Prepare
students to work in the outer islands and in remote clinics and villages. It
means that the only available trained health provider is the nurse or the nurse
can work collaboratively with other health care workers in delivering health
care services holistically. Students
will review the management of common conditions and how to work within
protocols. The management of a rural clinic will be explored as will the nurse’s
roles and responsibilities. Concepts of
Universal Health Coverage needs to be addressed, linking this to the roles and
responsibilities of nurses in remote and island nursing.
